About this Designer

British Eyewear designer and sustainability pioneer Pala borrows from classic design and modern trends to craft its ever-evolving collection of contemporary frames. Production is completed only in their factory which undergoes a regular third-party ethical trade audit known as (SMETA) to meet sure compliance in standard-bearer Sedex’s four pillars of Labour, Health and Safety, Environment and Business Ethics. Including social responsibility as a pillar to its mission allows the firm to give back to eye-care programs in Africa through through the order of every pair of glasses. That work, done with international charity Vision Aid Overseas, helps tackle problems of sight by investing in long term solutions that facilitate eye-care, tests and provision of spectacles. Pala's unique sunglasses cases are made through a partnership with Care4basket, an NGO running an initiative in Upper East Ghana. Through this, artisans and weavers from deprived communities are provided recycled plastics they make traditional woven baskets.
